Hearty Spaghetti with Meat Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground chuck
  • 1 can (14-16 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (14-16 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (14-16 oz each) tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (plus 1 tablespoon for the pasta)
  • 5 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large onion (or 2 medium), diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Base:
    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil.
    • Sauté the diced onions and green pepper for 5-7 minutes until softened.
    • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Cook the Meat:
    • Add the ground chuck to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
    • Once browned, drain any excess grease from the pan.
  3. Season and Simmer:
    • Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, basil, Italian seasoning, oregano, sea salt, and black pepper. Stir well to evenly coat the meat with the spices.
    • Add the diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Mix everything thoroughly.
    • Lower the heat to a gentle simmer, cover, and let the sauce cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook for 7-8 minutes, or until al dente.
    • Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the boiling water to prevent the pasta from sticking together.
    • Drain the pasta and set aside.
  5. Combine and Serve:
    • Toss the spaghetti with the meat sauce, or serve the sauce over individual portions of spaghetti.
    • Garnish with extra parsley or grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
